Seasonal hair loss (autumn) and the natural regrowth
Let’s talk about seasonal hair loss: there is no doubt that there are thousands of people who are affected by hair thinning everyday of their lives and this is something that causes a lot of distress and depression on those who suffer from it. There are many reasons why hair loss can occur and in many cases it’s just a very natural and common thing when your hair is naturally falling and making way to the growth of newer stronger hair.
Swedish researchers say that with autumn’s return you will lose more hair: these scientists followed the life of 800 women for more than 6 years and found that autumn was the time of the year they lost more hair.
Knowing better the normal hair growth will make it easier for you to understand this.
First, it is perfectly normal to lose some hair daily. Let’s learn how to distinguish between normal hair loss and the kind of hair loss that needs to be cured as soon as possible, to prevent further hair loss.
A human hair grows for between 3 and 6 years. In normal conditions 90 per cent of our hair is growing, while the 10% left is in a resting state (called the telogen stage) for between 2 to 6 months, before it falls out.
Our hair follicles rests for 3 months before the whole process is repeated.
According to the swedish research, the observed women had the highest proportion of resting hairs in mid-summer — with the telogen state in most of them ending around 3 months later, from October onwards.
Reasons for seasonal hair loss in autumn
- One of the reasons for this is because our body holds on to hair to protect the scalp against the strong summer’s sun;
- Another reason is the fact that we tend to get more easily sick in the cold months rather than in the summer time, and since our hair cells are the second-fastest produced cells in the body, so hair is often the first thing to suffer from any body condition, and hair can actually be used as a barometer of our health!
We really don’t need our hair to survive (people don’t die just because they go bald, do they :)?)
so often, during sickness it is a matter of a choice between hair growing or maintaining the vital blood flow reaching the vital organs.
Medication for autumn excessive hair thinning (some only for female hair loss)
Check with your doctor for these possible symptoms or conditions:
- Iron deficiency;
- Polycystic ovaries;
- Skin conditions;
- Crash dieting;
- Thyroid problems;
- Stress and contraceptive pills.
These are the most commons reasons, and the conditions that you should check and cure, with the help of your doctor or your dermatologist.
Hair loss and micro blood circulation
Among these reasons, I haven’t mentioned on of the most important: the decrease of the micro blood circulation to the hair roots.
If your hair is excessively thinning, this is definitely one of the situations that need to be solved as soon as possible.

As we just saw, the natural hair loss process can be stronger during the spring and autumn and it is known as the “period of chestnuts. When you lose a large amount of hair during those seasons it’s considered to be perfectly normal as long as you are not seeing any bald spots on your scalp. Even dogs get to experience massive loss of hair at some point and so do most animals. This is something that happens to all mammals.
One thing that you do need to keep in mind is that there are many factors that can determine the loss of hair. Too much stress in our lives can also be extremely annoying and difficult to handle and this is one of the main reasons why we need to be able to determine if we are too stressed. You could also be losing hair due to lack of proper nutrition and this is a very common reason why so many people lose their hair in a way that is not natural.
The common natural loss of hair is around 50 to 100 daily and this is not something that should be the cause of any concern. There are thousands of people who have lose more than that ad they still show no sign of losing any of their hair. In fact there is a large number of people who never even lost their hair by the time they reach their 60’s or 70’s and some have even reached ages like 90 and still have a full set of hair on their scalp. This is the reason why we know that genetics play a truly major role in the production of hair.
Hopefully these information gave you a better idea of the reasons why some people lose their hair and this can allow you to do anything you need in order to change that. The studies and research that have been done on this subject have allowed for a lot of important changes to take place. We can expect more revolutionary discoveries to be made in the next decade and the cure for baldness related to inheritance might finally be found.
