One of our subscribers sent me a support email with a few questions, regarding how to perform exercise # 6.
I think the answer I gave may be useful to you:
Where the muscular impulse at the back of the head is?
The muscular impulse at the back of the head starts from the occipital muscle, and it is helped by the auricular muscles. At the same time, having a good posture, or as you call it, a a dynamic muscle balance
helps having the galea relaxed.
This helps the motion of the scalp towards the center of the head.
Is the rear occipital muscle contracting as the frontal one lengthens?
The frontal muscle, contracting, pulls the scalp toward the forefront while at the same time the rear occipital muscles “pushes” the scalp forwards (as explained above).
And vice versa.
In order to be able to do this basic, but fundamental (and extremely beneficial for the hair) movement you need to practice this type of muscular motion, strengthening the muscles used in the action.
The stronger they will get, the easier it will be.
The back and forth movement (done while keeping a good dynamic muscle balance) will make the galea more and more elastic: this will help the motion.
I am aware of a tightening at the back when I raise my eyebrows and also something around the ears (a slight raising and pushing backwards feeling. Is this what you mean? If so, then this is not really explained clearly on the practical or theoretical videos.
Yes, when you raise your eyebrows (which happens simultaneously with the contraction of the frontal muscle), you should feel a tightening at the back (these muscles are connected as they are part of the same muscular chain – see beginning of video#1 in module 2).
The “ art” that I am trying to teach here is to be able to activate the frontal and occipital muscles at the same time, so to feel a “tightening” backwards, as you say.
The practical videos (and the pdfs which containg the transcript of what I say in the videos, will help you with extra infos) will teach you how to do the training correctly.
The secret is using the beginning exercises to make your scalp loose, and then start with the use of the advanced exercises.
Please try to describe the feeling of what happens to the rear occipital muscles as I think it will help me perform the exercises better.
The feeling of what happens to the rear occipital muscles – well this has to do with the nervous communication signal sent from the brain directly to those muscles.
Just like when you decide to contract any voluntary muscle (the ones that you use the most, like your biceps are easier to control, but with some training, will power and intention all the muscles of our body can be controlled), the same happens with the occipital muscles.
The feeling is the one described above.
I had just hit upon the fact I was fixed in my scalp and managed to free it off quite quickly in an almost the same way as you show. I am excited as I have receded considerably at the front and thinned on top. I am not ready to perform the exercise 6 and 7 yet.
Use the beginning exercises as explained in the second video of module 7, and in your spare time, during the day, try to perform exercises 6 and 7.
With 2-3 weeks of daily training you should be able to perform exercises 6 and 7.
Remember: it is not required that you have the same motion that I show in practical video #6 and #7.
You can continue with the advanced exercises even if the extent of your scalp motion is less than the one I have.
That is why it is important to send us a video where you do these 2 advanced exercises.
Based on what we see in the video, we will be able to judge whether you should continue with the beginning exercises, or if you are ready to proceed to the advanced section of the training.
