How to stop dandruff

In this post you can learn how to have a shiny healthy scalp by getting rid of dandruff.
In this post you will learn how to stop dandruff naturally, and possibly without side effects.
Nobody likes to have an itchy scalp and the falling white flakes that many people find on their shoulders.
In the market today you can find different shampoos and treatments, both natural and chemical to take care of dandruff, but often these treatments do not deliver the expected results.
Many people though may think they suffer from dandruff but, unless a doctor diagnosed it as dandruff, it may be not certain that this is the real condition affecting your scalp, and it may be you are suffering from something else.
Let’s see the different conditions to which the scaling is connected.
Dandruff and other scalp problems
Psoriasis in a scalp problem that creates an itchy scalp and heavy white scaling, and if it is not treated properly, it will not heal.
That is why it is important to recognize it and cure it for what it is.
Many aggressive products may cause allergic dermatitis or irritatations, such as atopic dermatitis (also called eczema).
Seborrheic dermatitis is another common problem that affects the scalp, and many people may think it is just dandruff, while it is a more complex situation, and if you don’t recognize it for what it is, you may have a hard time trying to heal it.
Learn more about this point in this post.
What is dandruff?
The white flakes that compose this condition are actually skin cells.
Our epidermis regenerates itself every 4 weeks, and what happens is that new cells go from the bottom of the skin layer to the top in about 30 days.
At the same time, the dead cells are shed, to give space to the new ones.
These are so minute in quantity that we don’t even notice this process.
When one suffers from dandruff, this scaling increases and that’s the reason why these shedding cells form, together with the oils of the skin, the whitish flakes that can be noticed.
Main remedies for dandruff
In order to get a shiny scalp, let’s see the best 3 dandruff remedies available today.
Let say in general that you shouldn’t be using a shampoo that contains aggressive ingredients such asSodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), SLES, all types of sulfates, parabens, and other harsh foaming agents that are in shampoos and body detergents.
This is the first step to get rid of the heavy scaling.
You should be using an organic, natural, and with a delicate and plant derived cleansing base that can get rid of the sebum in excess, without attacking the hair follicles.
You can also use a good anti dandruff shampoo, and if you can get one that contains zinc pyrithione, which can help fight the fungi that stimulate dandruff.
If the shampoo that you are using seems to be working in the beginning, but after a while it stops and you see the little flakes returning, don’t blame the shampoo: you may have developed a resistance to its ingredients, and at that point you may wanna try to rotate 3 brands of a good anti dandruff shampoo (Triatop, Nizoral and Neutrogena T-gel) using each for a month and switching the from month to month.
This may do the trick.
Cure Folliculitis, Seborrheic dermatitis and hair loss
It is a good idea to use a shampoo based on the active ingredient called “ ketoconazole”, which kills one of the fungi that cause dandruff, and that trigger conditions like folliculitis, seborrheic dermatitis and even hair loss.
One of the best products containing ketoconazoleis a shampoo called Nizoral, which is effective in eliminating this skin issue, according to many of our subscribers.
Unfortunately, long-term application can cause irritations.
Therefore I advise you to begin with a version containing the lowest ketoconazole concentration, 1%, because this active ingredient will work already in very low concentrations.
If you do not see results, then get the version with a higher concentration of this principle ingredient, 2% strength.
Its use will help you get rid of dandruff and fungi and help to keep your scalp healthy and clean.
One of the best alternatives to this product is a shampoo called Triatop, a very good shampoo to fight dermatitis and excessive dandruff, preferred by many to Nizoral because it is more gentle.
Neutrogena T–gel is another good product that you can use if you are suffering from this condition, a shampoo formulated with pyrithione zinc, which is an antifungal and antibacterial agent.
Fight dandruff with baking soda
You can also fight this condition using a natural home made shampoo, based on baking soda, which is a natural and powerful parasite killer of the fungi of the skin.
